Mr. William Gorelick

November 24, 1927 — January 29, 2021

Mr. William Gorelick, 93, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Care One at East Brunswick. He was born and raised in the Bronx, spent time living with his family on a farm in upstate New York, before moving to New Brunswick, NJ, raising their sons in Plainfield and Edison, finally moving to Monroe.
He was a graduate of New Brunswick High School in 1945. After high school he attend Rutgers College for two years before meeting his wife, Judith, whom he married in 1950.
After marrying, he joined the United States Army and served as a Medic during the Korean War. Upon his return, William worked in the New York Garment District for several years. He gave up the garment district to purchase a store called Brown's in Dunellen, NJ. From Brown's, William went into partnership with his father, Sol and brother, Jerry and bought a chain of Card-o-rama stores throughout the east coast. In the late 1980's, William retired.
William and his late wife Judith bought a home in Boca Raton, Florida where they would spend the winters as "snowbirds". He continued the tradition until May of 2019 and the age of 91.
William was an avid reader. He would read at least three books a week. He enjoyed golfing and tennis. His other past time passion was watching college sports, especially the schools where his sons' attended, plus professional sports. The Mets were his favorite.
Predeceased by his parents Sol and Esther Gorelick, his wife Judith (Kelson) Gorelick, he leaves behind to carry on the Gorelick name, three sons, Bruce, Steven and his wife Joanne, and Michael and his wife Nancy, his four grandchildren, and his brother, Jerry and his wife Kinnie.
Graveside services will take place on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Beth Israel Cemetery, 1 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ at 1 pm.
