Violeta Mota, born on December 11th, 1952 passed on April 9th, 2021 at the age of 68. Violeta was born in the town of San Cristobal, Dominican Republic to parents Gloria and Rufino Mota. At the age of 16, she arrived to join her immigrant family in Brooklyn, NY where she began her American journey by helping support her eight sisters and brothers and would then go on to graduate from Cosmetology and Beautician School. At the age of twenty she married and began a family in the town of Bayonne, NJ where she raised and guided her only two children, Victor and Elio Montas.
To those who knew her well she was known as “Viola” and to those that did not, she was simply “Ms. Mota”. Violeta went on to work in the manufacturing and medical service industries and had the heart of an entrepreneur by starting small businesses for the benefit of her family and personal independence. She enjoyed cooking shows, making recipes and spending time with family that included her adored four grandchildren (Eliana, Matese, Amelia and Amari), longtime companion (Ricardo), two sisters and six brothers and their families. Violeta was a strong minded and dedicated mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend and chose to help others unconditionally. “Viola” was proud of her Dominican heritage and her accomplishments as an American citizen. She strove not only to be better but taught her children to do the same.
“Nosotros te amamos.” You will not be forgotten. You will live in our hearts every day and your spirit will be with us for an eternity.
