Susan J. Osieja, 48, of the Dayton section of South Brunswick, passed away , Saturday, July 10, 2021 at her home. Susan was born in Passaic, NJ, was a lifelong South Brunswick area resident and graduated South Brunswick High School. Following graduation she attended Jersey City State College, where she completed a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education.
After college, Susan was employed as a teacher with the NJ State Juvenile Correction Center for Boys in Jamesburg, NJ. She enjoyed teaching troubled youth and seeing her students transition into the mainstream world. Susan also enjoyed teaching special need adults at the ARC of Somerset County and the Achievement Center of Raritan Valley Community College. These were unique assignments Susan would participate in as her own personal challenge.
Susan was a Math Teacher for the New Brunswick Public Schools, where she taught for 18 years at the New Brunswick Middles School.
She enjoyed a challenging game of Scrabble, bowling and hula hooping. Susan participated in several classes to improve her hoop skills. Susan was an avid bicyclist having participated in the New York City Five Boroughs Bike Tour. She had a special ability to create the best of memories and was able to put the biggest smiles on faces in everything she did and with everyone she spent time with. Above all, Susan was a loving wife, mother and aunt, who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Predeceased by her parents, John and Patricia Bogus and her sister Pattyann, she is survived by her husband, Shawn M. Osieja, her son Paul J. Fortin, her sister Frances Bogus, nieces and nephews, Angela Greenspan, Timothy Bogus, Johnny Diotis and Tyler Forrai, and grandniece and nephew, Olivia and Nicholas Greenspan, who always brought a special smile to her face.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 7 - 9 pm at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Cremation will be private. Susan's urn will be placed in the Mausoleum at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick at a later date.
