Sheila F. Hordon, 83, of Kendall Park, New Jersey, died on February 22, 2021. She is survived by her sons Laurence and Bruce, her grandsons Sven and Layton, and her brother Nathaniel. Another brother, Martin, predeceased her in April of 2010. Her husband Robert predeceased her in May of 2018.
Mrs. Hordon was born in New York City, New York on January 13, 1938. She attended Brooklyn College where she received her B.A. in music. She then taught high school social studies in Virginia. Subsequently, she received her M.A. in political science from Columbia University, and later her J.D. in law from Rutgers University.
Mrs. Hordon was an attorney specializing in intellectual property law and estate law in central New Jersey, both in several law firms and also in her own private practice. She was a member of the New Jersey Bar Association.
Mrs. Hordon was a long-time member of Congregation B’nai Tikvah in North Brunswick, New Jersey and served as board president of the synagogue. She was an avid reader and traveler. She had a deep and abiding passion for political causes and social awareness, as well as a lifelong interest in food and nutrition. She was a very sociable person who maintained close relationships with her family members and enjoyed being with friends and meeting new people throughout her life. She took great pride in her children’s accomplishments and delighted in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
