Robert Barry Katz is the definition of a beloved father, son, grandfather, brother and friend. He was born on February 25,1947 in the Bronx, NY. His father, Julius Katz, passed at 87yrs in 2007 and his mother, Lillian Katz, is 100yrs and still living at her home in Delray Beach, FL. Bob started his career as an electrical engineer with Western Electric in NY. He moved to NJ to switch paths and became a business owner in the automotive parts distribution industry for the majority of his career. Before retirement, he spent his last years as a residential contractor. His two sons, Eric (41) and Adam (38) were his pride and joy. As a father, he was always present in their lives and would drop anything, anywhere, anytime to be there for them. He taught them what family is all about.
Family values were most important to Bob. He adored Eric’s fiancée, Francesca, and was the best grandpa he could be to his granddaughters Jordana (5) and Mara (2), daughters to Adam and his wife Charityn. He was so happy to be “Grandpa” and could not wait to show off their pictures and take them to the park. He would pour sand in his backyard so they could “play at the beach” when they came to visit. If there was no snow in winter to go sledding, he would drive north until they reached some. Bob loved to problem solve and bring the solution to the table.
Bob was always there for everyone else. He was a selfless, jovial man. He struggled for a period of time once his kids grew old enough to move out of his home. He was able to find his way through a special program that allowed him to become a leader and help others once again. He invested at least 2 hours each day working on himself to always do the right thing and handle life’s situations with ease. You could often hear him singing “Motown” songs and shouting made up words like “Lee-gah-Sone” or “Ah-Ba-Cha”. Even in his last days before cancer got the best of him, he was able to find happiness that his life was full and complete. We will always love you and the things you did for all of us.
