Richard P. Charzewski, 66, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly at his home on Monday evening, April 3, 2017.
Predeceased by his parents George and Alice (Goltz) Charzewski, he is survived by his beloved wife Sharon (Laduca) Charzewski, his loving children Amy and her husband Brian Cordes, of Manalapan, NJ, Kyle P. Charzewski and his wife Cristin, of Somerset, NJ., his dear brothers Lawrence, of Manville, Robert, of Iselin, Ronald, of Greenville, TN and Raymond, of Monroe, his cherished grandchildren Hunter Tyler and Ashlyn Alexis Cordes.
He was born in Newark, NJ, grew up in the Monroe/Jamesburg area until marrying his wife of 42 years and starting their family in North Brunswick and continuing to grow their family in the Deans section of South Brunswick, where they have lived since 1977.
Richard was a graduate of Jamesburg High School, class of 1969. He attended Middlesex County (East Brunswick) Vocational Technical School for carpentry then attended Middlesex County College studying building code inspection. Richard belonged to the Millwright United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local #1006.
He was the Commander of the Sons of American Legion Post #401, in South Brunswick, NJ for many years until his death. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge of North/South Brunswick, and the Jamesburg High School Alumni Association. Richard also served as the Scout Master of Troop #10 of the Boy Scouts of America in South Brunswick and saw his son Kyle through the troop as Eagle Scout. He was also a Little League Baseball Coach and recreational Soccer Coach in town. He spent many years volunteering his time with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and volunteered with his wife supporting and serving as South Brunswick Band Parents, supporting both his son and his daughter's interests in the marching band.
Richard happily took on the role as the patriarch of the Charzewski family and could often be found enjoying family meals around the kitchen table, telling stories about the years he spent as a motorcycle riding and race car driving youth, building furniture for the home he shared with his wife and children, enjoying family vacations to Wildwood every summer, and celebrating life’s special moments, including the marriage of both his children and birth of both grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick on Sunday, April 9, 2017, from 2-5 & 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 1740 US-130, North Brunswick on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11 am. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick, NJ.
