Primitivo Guzman, 90, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Amboy Care Center, Perth Amboy, where he was a resident for the past nine years. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Primitivo came to the United States in 1956 and spent many years in the New Brunswick area before moving to Perth Amboy in 1988. Shortly after, he returned to New Brunswick until 2007.
Primitivo was an amazing man. He had very little schooling but lived his life through experiences. Primitivo started his career at Hockey's Deli on Albany Street, New Brunswick as a delivery person, then became a short order cook. As a short order cook, he had the ability to work banquet venues as well.. Primitivo worked for the Sheraton Inn, the Ramada Inn and the Wooden Nickel, (now Arthur's). He retired at the age of 67 in 1991.
Upon his retirement he enjoyed doing crafts and painting. Loved watching wrestling and was both a Yankee and Met baseball fan.
Primitivo is survived by his loving children Santo & Hilda Guzman, Maria & Jorge Vega, Primitvo and Lisa Guzman, Adolph Guzman and Evelyn Guzman, his beloved 17 grandchildren, cherished 11 great grandchildren and his 3 great great grandchildren, his dear brother Santo Guzman and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be held today, Wednesday, December 14th at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church, 75 Morris Street, New Brunswick on Thursday, December 15th at 10 am. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick.
