Philip Schulman, 94, passed away peacefully at his home in Highland Park, NJ, with his family by his side on Friday, December 24, 2021. Born and raised in Linden, NJ, raised his family in Sayreville, NJ and has lived the last 30 years in Highland Park, NJ.
He owned a Mom and Pop store, which was called Phil's Food Market in Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge, NJ. HIs customer's were his friends. Prior to his career in the food business, he was a professional baseball umpire pursuing a career in the major leagues. However he then met his future wife and decided the travel life was not for him.
In his pasttime, Phil enjoyed his family, family get-togethers, family cruises and everything related to his family.
Predeceased by his parents Fannie and Nathan Schulman, his brothers, Izzie, Mike, his sister, Bertha Grodstein, his son Gary Schulman and his wife Jean Schulman in 2008. Phil is survived by his brother, Herman Schulman, his daughter-in-law Kathy Tanis Schulman, of Lake Hiawatha, daughter, Sue Schulman and husband Andy Danzo, of Buffalo and his son Mark Schulman, of Waretown, his grandchildren Lisa Schulman DeSantis and husband Kevin, Erik Schulman and wife Bronwen, of Pequqnnock, Neil Schulman and wife Kathleen, of Hoboken, Sarah Danzo, Melissa Danzo and Greg Danzo his great grandchildren, Ryan DeSantis, Maggie, Audrey and Lyla Schulman,
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11 am at Beth Israel Cemetery 1 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ.
Shiva will be sat a the Phil's Residence 429 South Third Avenue, Highland Park, NJ following services on Wednesday until 6 pm and Thursday, beginning at 12 pm continuing all day.
