Pedro Rivera, 88, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at his home in Edison, NJ with his family by his side. He was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, came to the states, first to New York in 1952, then settling in Newark, NJ. Pedro moved to Edison, NJ in 1958 after marrying Carmen Rosa in 1956.
While living in Newark, Pedro was employed as a factory worker for Weiss and upon his move to Edison, began working for Metallo Gasket Company in New Brunswick, retiring many years later.
Pedro loved watching the NY Yankees play baseball on television. He also enjoyed playing dominoes. His family thought of Pedro as a great family man, who would babysit the grandchildren whenever it was necessary. Pedro was a very kind soul, taking into his home many relatives and friends giving them shelter so that they could get a good start in life.
Pedro would say, "He lives a boring life so you can have a good time."
Predeceased by his parents Felix and Juana (Lopez) Rivera, his wife Carmen (Rosa) Rivera, surviving are his son Richard Rivera, his loving nieces and nephew, who looked to Pedro as their father, Edna Rosa, Gladys Zayas and Andres Rosa, his cherished eight grandchildren, many, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will take place at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 10 am to 12 pm with Funeral Service at 12 :15 pm. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery and Mausoleum, Piscataway, NJ.
