Mariano Colon Perez

April 24, 1939 — December 31, 2020

Mariano Colon Perez, 81, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at home peacefully surrounded by his daughters and their family. He was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, and has been living in New Brunswick, NJ for many years.

Mariano always lit up the room with his dimpled smile, stories, and jokes. He was always a hard-worker, handyman, family man, loving, strong, and caring man. He enjoyed playing Dominoes, the simplicity of enjoying a cigar, and his cheers of “Palo Viejo” rum. He loved spending time talking with everyone whether it was about reminiscing growing up in Puerto Rico, to the ongoing changes in the world. He loved backyard BBQ and a nice cold Budweiser beer. He loved the holidays especially New Year’s Eve “te estan buscando, el año viejo”....

We thank him for everything he did for us throughout his life, and he will truly be missed by his family, friends, and all those that in one way or another crossed paths with him. He will forever be in our hearts. We find comfort knowing that he is looking over all of us and that he found his way to his beloved wife and they both can now enjoy each other’s company in heaven.

Mariano is predeceased by his: parents, Rosendo Colon and Paubla Perez; loving wife, Carmen Colon of 46 years; son, Edwin Perez; sisters, Sonia Rosa Reyes and Angelina Rios; brothers, Ceferino Colon and Aniceto Olavarria .

Mariano’s legacy will continue through his: loving children, Margarita Perez, Diana Rivera (Jose), Nancy Colon, Yolanda Colon-Jimenez (Miguel), Wanda Pinto (Eddie)1, and
Awilda Torres (Daniel) and David Perez (Maggie); grandchildren, Jacob, Jonathan, Alexandra, Jessica, Amanda, Cristian, Samantha, Edward, Anaya, Adriana, Junior, Elaine, Jerome and his great-grandchildren; siblings, Carmen Delia Soto, Jorge Colon, Anna Garcia, and Israel Mercado

He will be greatly missed by his much loving family, God-Children and friends
