Mrs. Maria Julia Irizarry

Maria Julia Irizarry, 89, affectionately known as "Ilia", passed away at home in North Brunswick surrounded by her family on Saturday evening, November 6, 2021. Born and raised in Mayaquez, Puerto Rico, Ilia had spent many years living in the New Brunswick area. Upon her retirement she returned to Puerto Rico. Her last four years of life have been spent with her daughter in North Brunswick, NJ.

Ilia was a congregant at Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church for many years. She loved to cook and feed the family. A hard worker, Ilia took care of her parents, her nieces, Sonia and Carmen, as well as her own children.

Ilia was predeceased by her parents Sergio and Carmen Irizarry, she will be deeply missed by her daughters, Daisy and her husband William Cruz and Evelyn Mendoza and her husband Efrain, her cherished grandchildren, William Cruz, Jr., Frank Mendoza, Jr., Marissa Mendoza, Esteban Mendoza, Sandra Mendoza and Raul Andujar, Jr., her twenty great grandchildren, her two great great grandchildren and her dear sister Julia Maria Irizarry and her brother Victor Irizarry.

Family and friends may visit at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 6 - 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 10 am at St Mary's of Mount Virgin RC Church-Parish of the Visitation,Remsen Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ.
