Maria “Soly” Guzman, 65, passed away, Wednesday, November 23rd following a courageous fight against cancer. Soly died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family.
Soly is tremendously missed by surviving members of the family including her sisters, Margarita “Margo”Rodriguez, Tomasa “Taty” Alvarado, Esmeralda “Yayi” Ramos, her brothers, Juan “Carmelo” Guzman, and Raul Guzman, fifteen nieces and nephews, many great nieces and great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was greeted in heaven by her parents Francisco and Angelina Guzman, who predeceased her.
Born in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico, Soly was her parent’s pride and joy. She came to the United States in 1973 where she loved furthering her education through the Institution for the Blind in MA. She resided in New Brunswick and Perth Amboy, before becoming a resident of Linden, where she lived with her loving nieces, Jasmin and Maribel Roldan and their children, Isabella and Angelina Roldan.
Soly was a loving, strong, brave, generous sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Long known for her positive outlook on life, her faith in God, her strong love for her family and friends, and mostly her wonderful sense of humor that she maintained till the very end.
