Mrs. Lisa Renee (Cooper) Brooks, 59, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at JFK Medical Center, Edison after a long struggle with diabetes. She was born in Jamaica, Queens, NY and has been living for many years in Edison, NJ.
Lisa attended Forest Hills High School. Queens, NY. At the age of 14 she meet her future husband, Frederick and was married on August 2, 1978 at the age of 20. Though they were separated for many years, Lisa had raised 5 wonderful children that she loved and cared for with everything she had and more.
She worked many years as a Medical Biller with Tricat. Lisa had also been employed as a Secretary for Rutgers University School of Social Work in New Brunswick. Her latest career endeavor was being a loving and caring homemaker.
As her children were growing up, Lisa was a long time PTA mom, then when her first grandson, Isaiah,came of school age she continued as a PTA grandmother for the Edison School District..
She was a dialysis patient at DaVita Dialysis in Edison, where she was an Ambassador for other patients going through dialysis.
Through the years, Lisa attended Faith Fellowship Church in Sayreville, NJ and sang in the choir until becoming ill in 2012.
Anyone who knew Lisa, knew her as flamboyant and bold, especially with her hair color and styles, as well as her nails. Lisa's favorite color was pink. The family asks that if you are attending the Memorial Gathering to wear something pink.
Predeceased by her father John Cooper and brother Kevin, she will be deeply missed by her loving mother, Leona "Lee" (Shipley) Cooper, her devoted children Kerri, Kimberly, Kristopher, Kyle and Kelley, (who was at her side since birth), her cherished grandchildren, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Jianna, Kristopher, Jr. and Jace., her dear brother Leon Cooper and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017, from 5 - 7 pm at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Service will start at 6:15 pm. Cremation was private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to DaVita Dialysis Patient Citizens, dialysispatients.org.
