Leon Carasso

October 22, 1922 — January 6, 2013

Leon Carasso, 90, passed away at St Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ on Sunday, January 6, 2013. He was born in New Brunswick, NJ and had lived in Milltown and North Brunswick throughout his life. Leon was in the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. Upon his return he began work in the family business with his mom and his brother in Carasso's Luncheonette and Restaurant in Milltown.He was a lifelong member of Congregation Etz Ahaim in Highland Park, NJ. Leon also was a respected member of the Lions Club having served as its President and Treasurer.

He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ida Carasso, his sisters Daisy and Louise, and his wife Olga. Leon is survived by his longtime companion of 35 years Joan Sassenoff, of Highland Park, NJ, his sons Donald, of Massachusetts and Ralph, of Florida, his brother Sam, of Milltown, NJ , his two granddaughters, Olga and Marisa and a step granddaughter, Heather.

Funeral service will be held at Congregation Etz Ahaim, Dennison Street, Highland Park, NJ at 3:30pm today followed by interment in Poile Zedek Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ. Arrangements are entrusted to the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. For online condolence you may visit www.crabielparkwestfuneralchapel.com .
