Lawrence (Larry) Paul Greenfield passed away on May 14, 2023, at his home in Forest Hills, Queens, NY. He will forever be remembered as a loving father, proud grandfather, beloved brother and devoted husband to his late wife, Robin. He leaves a legacy of laughter, friendship, and family.
Larry was born October 3, 1940 in Trenton, NJ. He developed a passion for engineering at a young age and went on to major in Engineering at Princeton University, where he remained a proud alumnus throughout his life. He had a nearly 30-year career at the New York City Transit Authority. When he first entered the workforce, the slide rule was the major tool of an engineer's trade, but by the end of his career, he was putting his largely self-taught IT skills to work implementing complex computerized systems to track rail car maintenance.
In his personal life, Larry's sense of humor, bright smile, intellect, curiosity, and loyalty are some of his best-remembered qualities. Larry was a friend to many, limerick writer extraordinaire, and a lover of good music and good gin.
Larry is survived by his children, Eve Greenfield (Tom Scudder), Julie (Teddy) Burkett and Joshua (Lauren) Greenfield; his grandson David Burkett; his sister Joan Axelrod; and his extended family and countless friends.
