Karen Lynn Ellis
Monday January 27, 1958, an Angel was born to Doris K. and Thomas Ellis. Karen was reared by Doris K. and Lonnie G. Williams in Brooklyn, New York where she was born. (All proceed her in death). She was the oldest of 6 sisters to include her twin adopted sisters. Two sisters proceed her in death Mamie Denise & Saundra Levette.
Karen attended Saint James Parochial School located in Brooklyn New York and she is an Alumnus of the famous Ophelia Devore Charm School of New York City. After the death of her Dad her Mom relocated the family to Plainfield New Jersey. She attended and graduated from Plainfield High School, she earned an Associate degree from Union College of Cranford, New Jersey she majored in Diagnostics Ultrasound; She received her Bachelor of Arts from Thomas Edison University of Trenton, New Jersey she majored in Liberal Arts. She was continually active in the State of New Jersey Educational Association on the local and national levels.
Most important Karen gave her heart to the Lord in the Summer of 1979 at Saint Jude’s House of Prayer, she met and married the love of her life Anthony Boyd. The Two were married in The Church of God (Plainfield, NJ). Although they divorced after 12 years, they remained good friends.
Her final house of worship was Metropolitan Baptist Church, Newark, New Jersey under the tutelage of Dr. David Jefferson. She was a true servant of God. She gave all praise to God her savior and Redeemer. She would encourage you with scriptures to help you through hard times and to remind you to lean on Gods promise and his word. She always said, “life is to be lived”, “Let the work I Have Done Speak for Me”. Karen was a faithful Servant of God. She led by example and had no problem sharing her faith in God. She was known for her ability to give unconditional love to everyone especially, children with special needs. She was an active servant in Metropolitan Baptist Church she served on several ministries, the Volunteer Willing Heart Community Ministry, the African American Cultural Ministry, the Hospitality Ministry and the Women’s Fellowship Ministry. She gave her service unto God.
She worked hard all her life she believed hard work and putting God first and having Faith in God you can accomplish all your wants and desires of life. She began working at the tender age 14. She worked for the New Jersey Board of Education as a Paraprofessional for Special Education Students for 33 years and Retired. She always worked 2 jobs to name a few: As an After-School Coordinator for the New Jersey Bd of Ed, as People-to-People International Travel Programs for Students Chaperone and at Shop Rite as a Deli Associate. Her hard work and her faith in God afforded her the Luxury’s of Life, to own her home, a Volvo, and the ability to travel through out all 7 Continents of the World. She had a unique clothing style her outfits were colorful and coordinated with particular attention to her head wraps and hats.
Karen has truly gone from Labor to Rest on January 6, 2021, after being ill for the last 8 months she drifted into eternal peace. She left this world peacefully and is now with the Father, The Son Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit. Karen, we Loved you and we always will. God Loved You Best. Rest in Peace Our Sweet Angel
Those who will forever Cherish your memory are her Sisters Gennean S. Shepherd, Iesha Williams both of Yuma Arizona, and Tyesha Williams of Plainfield NJ. 5 Nieces, 4 nephews, 20 grandnieces & nephews. Devoted cousins Michael & Rhona Russell and Family. A Host of Cousins and many loving Close Friends.
