Mr. Jose L. Alfonso, 72, passed away at the Preferred Care Center in Old Bridge, NJ on Friday, August 25, 2017 with his family by his side. Born in Puerto Rico, he has resided in North Brunswick, New Brunswick and South Brunswick, as well as fifteen years in Jamesburg before living the past eight months in Old Bridge.
Jose was employed as a bus driver with Suburban Bus Company/Coach USA in New Brunswick for many years before retiring in 1988.
He enjoyed fishing and crabbing with his grandchildren and sports. Jose would make sure that he was in attendance at all of the grandchildren's endeavors. He was a very patient man and was sometimes know as the "mayor" where ever he lived.
Predeceased by his father Luis and his wife Hazel, Jose is survived by his beloved mother, Rosa, his children Margaret, Dawn, Sandra, Joseph and Rosie Alfonso, his cherished eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and his sister Camalia Aviles.
Visiting will take place at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ on Tuesday, August 29th from 6-8 pm. A funeral blessing will be given by Rev. Michael Cashman on Wednesday, August 30th at 10:30 am. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ.
