John M Walker (Johnny Mack) was born December 7, 1936, in South River, New Jersey. He was the sixth child born to Malachi and Virgie Lee Walker of Hertford, North Carolina. John departed this life on December 6, 2022 in his home in Bordentown, NJ. He was a day shy of his 86th birthday.
John graduated from the South River School District and later joined the United States Marine Corp where he served from 1956-1962.
Thereafter, he went on to work for Merit Oil Company where he started as a gas station attendant and retired from what is now Hess Oil Company as the regional pump mechanic. John married his beautiful bride Delia on November 16, 1985.
In his spare time, John liked to work on cars, play basketball, softball, and listen to jazz. John also taught himself how to be a professional carpenter.
Later in life, John relocated to Bordentown, NJ with his daughter Junell and son-in-law Lance Smith, where they made sure he was well cared for with the help of his loving caregiver Tuwanda O’Neal.
John is predeceased by his: father and mother, Melachi and Virgie Walker; beloved wife, Delia Walker; five brothers, Milton, Charles Joseph , James and Williams (Billy) Walker; sister, Betty Walker; beloved son, John Russell Walker; grandson, Khaawar Faheem Walker and great granddaughter Quantae Shanè Lindsey.
Left to cherish his memory are his: children, Marcella Lorraine Walker of New Brunswick, New Jersey, Rhonda Green {Elijah} of Newark, New Jersey, John Walker of Hillsborough, New Jersey, Michael Walker of Bloomfield New Jersey, Vincent Todd Jiles of Maplewood, New Jersey and Junell Walker Smith {Lance} of Bordentown, New Jersey; two sisters, Lillian Clark of Somerset, NJ and Dolores Matlock of New Brunswick, NJ; cherished grandchildren, James, Ahyaam, Khayree, Jamal, Sacoyia, Michael, Daniel, Tanairah, Sameerah, Sincere, Sherod, Bryanna, and Keyonnah, and 14 great-grandchildren. John is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and dear relatives.
