Mr. John E Rowe

John Edward Rowe fue el cuarto hijo de Jasper Alvin Rowe y Santonina Justina Dunker Salazar. Nació en Colón, República de Panamá el 29 de octubre de 1941. Johnny, como le llamaban cariñosamente, asistió a la Escuela Primaria de República de Uruguay y al Colegio Abel Bravo (H. S.) de donde se graduó. Después de un breve período en la Universidad de Panamá, se fue a trabajar para la Administración del Canal de Panamá.
Johnny fue empleado como Supervisor Asistente de Mecánico para la Esclusa de Gatún, Locomotoras.
Más tarde se retiró y se fue a vivir a los Estados Unidos con su entonces esposa, Patricia Rowe. A Johnny le gustaba trabajar en el Canal y estaba muy orgulloso del trabajo que hacía allí. Tenía muchas historias sobre su tiempo en el Canal. Su hermana, Sylvia, recuerda un viaje familiar a Panamá donde Johnny les dio un recorrido en profundidad por las Esclusas de Gatún. El recorrido culminó con una visita a la Sala de Control donde se manipulan las cerraduras reales, lo que les permitió ver un tránsito en vivo en acción. También le gustaba llevar a sus hijos allí y les permitía montar en las locomotoras durante un tránsito vivo de barcos. A Johnny le sobreviven su hermana, Sylvia Archibold y sus 4 hijos, Aleida, John Jr., Adriana y John Patrick y dos hijastros, Pamela Hewitt Cañate y Alex Cañate. También deja 14 nietos, Yitzett, Kimberly, Jonathan, Ariana, Waleska, Daranel, Kyoko, Michiko, Juan, Joannys, Jalissa, Anthony, Lena, y Arielle, y cuatro bisnietos Darek, Thiago, Eliam y Dwayne. También tenía una buena amiga que lo ayudó en los últimos años de su vida, Annette Cornish.
Johnny era un padre amoroso y un abuelo juguetón. También era divertido e hizo muchos comentarios
chistosos. Hay muchas historias que sus hijos recuerdan que harían reír a muchas personas. Le
encantaba hacerle cosquillas y jugar con sus nietos. Amaba los deportes y jugó al baloncesto en su
juventud. Sobre todo, era fanático vigoroso de los Yankees de Nueva York y nunca se perdió un juego.
También le encantaba bailar, escuchar música de salsa, beber Ron Abuelo, Ron de Coco o Ron de
Myers's. Johnny será muy extrañado por sus amigos y familiares!!!

John Edward Rowe was the fourth child of Jasper Alvin Rowe and Santonina Justina Dunker Salazar. He
was born in Colón, Republic of Panamá on October 29, 1941. Johnny, as he was loving called, attended
Escuela Republic de Uruguay and Colegio Abel Bravo (H. S.) from which he graduated. After a brief stint
at the University of Panamá, he left to work for the Panamá Canal Administration.
Johnny was employed as an Assistant Mechanical Supervisor for the Gatun Lock, Locomotives. He later
retired and came to live in the United States with his then wife, Patricia Rowe. He enjoyed working in
the Canal and was very proud of the work that he did there. He had many stories about his time at the
Canal. His sister, Sylvia remembers a family trip to Panama where Johnny game them an in-depth tour
of the Canal Gatun Locks. The tour culminated with a visit to the Control Room where the actual locks
are manipulated allowing them to see a live transit in action. He enjoyed taking his children there as
well and allowed them to ride the locomotives during a live transit of ships.
Johnny is survived by his sister, Sylvia Archibold and his 4 children, Aleida, John Jr., Adriana, and John
Patrick and two stepchildren, Pamela Hewitt Cañate y Alex Cañate. He also leaves behind 14
grandchildren, Yitzett, Kimberly, Jonathan, Ariana, Waleska, Daranel, Kyoko, Michiko, Juan, Joannys,
Jalissa, Anthony, Lena, and Arielle, and four great-grandchildren Darek, Thiago, Eliam and Dwayne. He
also had a good friend that helped late in life, Annette Cornish.
Johnny was a loving father and playful grandfather. He was also funny and made hilarious comments.
There are many stories that his children remember that would make many people laugh their hearts
out. He loved to tickle and play with his grandchildren. He loved sports and played basketball in his
youth. Most of all he was die-hard NY Yankees Fan and never missed a game. He also loved to dance,
listen to Salsa music, drink Rum Abuelo, Coconut Rum, or Myers’s Rum.
Johnny will be greatly missed by his friends and family!!!
