Obituary of James W. Millner
James (Jim) W. Millner died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J. He was 63.
Jim was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Trenton, NJ. He attended college at the University of Rochester and later completed his law degree at the New England School of Law. Upon his graduation from law school, Jim joined the office of the Public Defender where he continued to work for the last 35 years; including the final 20 that he spent representing juveniles in the Family Court. Jim was awarded the Middlesex County Bar Association’s 2014 Criminal Trial Practice Attorney of the Year.
Jim was dedicated to the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 324 of New Brunswick. Jim also facilitated New Jersey’s only arts program for autistic children and their siblings, known as the Very Special Arts program.
Jim was extremely devoted to his family. Jim dedicated his life to helping youth in need as he truly felt a desire to better the lives of those less fortunate than he. He had the highest level of integrity and honor in everything that he did. He enjoyed playing tennis, collecting sea shells along the beach, and listening to reggae music.
