Iolanka Ferdinand 1927 – 2025

Iolanka Ferdinand, 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Born in 1927, Iolanka immigrated to the United States with her family in 1956, where they first settled in Yonkers, NY, before making their home in New Brunswick, NJ.

Iolanka dedicated much of her career to serving others, working as a Teller before transitioning to the Audit Department at New Brunswick Savings. She later worked at Sears. She was a devout parishioner of St. Ladislaus R.C. Church in New Brunswick and Our Lady of Lourdes in Milltown.

A woman of many talents and passions, Iolanka found joy in knitting, crocheting, gardening, traveling, and taking bus trips to Atlantic City with the North Brunswick Senior Citizen Center. She cherished time spent with family and was known for her warmth, strength, and kindness.

She was the beloved wife of the late Bela Ferdinand and a devoted mother to Ilonka Ferdinand (husband Lawrence), John Ferdinand, and Judith Ferdinand (partner Damion). She was a proud grandmother to Gregory Seamon (wife Katey), Alex Seamon, Daniel Ferdinand (wife Mei), Michael Ferdinand (wife Ariel), Jessica Ferdinand, Katherine Ferdinand, and Rick Garcia. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Fox and Willow Ferdinand.

Iolanka was predeceased by her parents, John and Juliana, as well as her brother, John Katona (wife Alair). She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Kazali (husband John).

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, March 17th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Gowan Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. A prayer service will begin at 11:30 AM, followed by entombment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ.

Iolanka’s memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
