Mr. Herbert Cohen

July 22, 1941 — September 23, 2021

Herbert (Herb) Cohen passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, on September 23, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with chronic illness.

Herb was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated Tilden High School and went on to attend and graduate from City College as an Accountant. He was employed by Skanska International as an accountant for ten years. Prior to his employment with Skanska International, Herb was the co-owner of Harbor Lights Music from 1985-1996, and then went on to become the creator and owner of Herb Carlin Orchestra from 1996-2001.

After his retirement, Herb took great interest gardening and created a beautiful and plentiful garden on the patio of the home he shared with his loving wife. He also enjoyed collecting stamps and had an extension collection that he took pride in, but what he was most proud of was having the opportunity to see all four of his children marry and have families of their own. Herb loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, who always made him smile.

Herb is predeceased by his mother, Rose, father, Samuel, and sister, Lenore.

He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Anne, four sons, Steffan (Debbie) Levine of Austin, TX, Douglas (Stephanie) Levine, also of Austin, TX, Jason (Krissy) Cohen of Levittown, PA, and Joshua (Amanda) Cohen of North Brunswick, NJ, and seven grandchildren, Sydney, Noah, Ayla, Jordyn, Ethan, Max, and Charlie. He also leaves behind many other family members whom he loved and cherished.

Services will be held at Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 3:30pm. Shiva will be observed at the family’s home at 66 Bayard Road in Somerset, NJ, on Sunday, following the services and on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021 from 1-4pm and 6-9pm.

Donations to the National Kidney Association may be made in Herb’s name, in his memory.
