Obituary of Henry Senko

Dateline: Ligonier, PA

Henry Senko, 98, formerly of New Brunswick and for the past year of Ligonier, PA died Saturday November 26th, 2016 at the Ligonier Gardens and Retirement Home. Born in New Brunswick, Henry grew up in Milltown, NJ and resided in New Brunswick for over 70 years. Henry spent every summer with his family in Chadwick Beach, NJ. He was a long-time member of, Local 27, Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Howell, NJ and worked his entire career for the Midland Ross Corporation, Highland Park, NJ, until retiring.

Henry served with the US Army in the 463 Signal Corp Heavy Construction battalion in the Pacific, during World War II.

A dedicated, fun loving and very personable individual, Henry would want to be remembered by family and friends for his laughter, charm (and singing!!) and all the good times they had together. He was a lifelong member of the Magyar Reformed Church, New Brunswick and of its Men’s Club where he served as President for many years. He was also heavily involved in the Kotton Club, Moose Lodge, YMCA (where he was a lifelong member until it closed) and the New Brunswick Senior Center.

Son of the late Alexander and Amelia Senko, he was predeceased by his sisters, Josephine, Jennie, and Frances and his beloved wife, Elsie (Denes) Senko who passed in February 2012. Surviving are his children: Janis Senko; Robert & Dianne Senko; Deborah & Phillip Foster; his four grandchildren: Jeffrey Senko, Chelsea, Candace, & Melanie Foster, and many nephews and nieces.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am this Thursday, December 1st in the Magyar Reformed Church, 175 Somerset Street, New Brunswick. Interment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Magyar Reformed Church or to The Ligonier Gardens Personal Care Home, 125 Kalassay Drive, Ligonier, PA 15658. Relatives and friends may call at the Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick on Wednesday November 30th, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
