Mr. Gonsalo Ocasio Irene, 78, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was born and raised in Catano, Puerto Rico. Gonsalo has been living in North Brunswick for quite awhile.
Gonsalo worked many years for the New Brunswick Board of Education as a Janitor. He spent time in every school in New Brunswick at some point in time. After retiring, he became a Delivery Man for Clinton Square Auto Parts on Sandford Street, New Brunswick until he became ill.
Gonsalo would travel back and forth to Puerto Rico, enjoying his trips to the mountains. He enjoyed dancing to the Spanish music and cooking many dishes of foods. Gonsalo especially loved baseball!!.
Predeceased by his parents Salustiano Irene and Juana Ocasio, his brother, his sister and son David Maldonado, surviving are his wife of 38+ years Eulogia Resto, his children Sandra Irene, Carlos Irene, Mary, Cathy, Sonia, Adalid,(Alex), Jackie and Ivonne Maldonado, his 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and his siblings Joanie, Miguel and Jose.
Visitation will take place at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ fro 8 - 10 am. Blessing will follow at 10:15 am with interment at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ.
