Frank Olbei, 81, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at his home. He was born in Veszpremi, Hungary and came to the United States in 1956. Shortly after his arrival, he met his future wife Maria and they were married in 1957.
He was employed by Permcil, Tape of New Brunswick for over 25 years as a forklift operator. Frank was previously employed by The Chickopee in Milltown and J & J, New Brunswick.
Frank was a longtime member and usher of St. Ladislaus RC Church in New Brunswick and the Knights of Columbus Council at the church. Frank was a member of the Hungarian American Athletic Club. Frank played soccer on the local soccer club team and their games were played in Shea Stadium, New York. He enjoyed fishing and playing chess.
Frank was one of 13 children and was predeceased by his parents Istvan and Maria (Feger) Olbei, he is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Maria (Varga) Olbei, his loving children Maria (Mary) and her husband William D. Rockhill, Frank Olbei and his wife Lilian and Robert Olbei, his cherished grandchildren, Andrew Rockhill, Krista Cremin, Corey Olbei and his wife Debbie, Brandon Olbei and Ryan Olbei, his dear brothers and sisters in Hungary.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Ladislaus RC Church, 215 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ. Cremation was private.
