Esther (PINCUS) Michelson passed away peacefully at her home in North Brunswick on February 19, 2024.
Esther grew up in Perth Amboy. She was a 1946 graduate of Perth Amboy High School where she was named the Periscope Pinup Girl.
A 1950 graduate of Newark State Teacher’s College, Esther was a proud member of Kappa Delta Pi, the education honor society. She was a beloved elementary school teacher in New Brunswick and later North Brunswick.
In 1948, Esther married her first husband, Jack Pincus. Esther devoted herself to raising her children. They were married for 30 years until Jack’s death in 1978.
In 1984, Esther married the love of her life, Stanley Michelson. Together they traveled the world with educational groups studying art, music and history. They loved to attend movies, concerts, ballet and Broadway shows. For 37 years, until Stan’s death in 2021, they were inseparable and devoted to each other. They were known to their friends and family for always holding hands, expressing their love for each other and were often found dancing in their kitchen. Together they doted on their grandchildren, never missing swim meets or school events.
Esther was a kind and loving person. She always maintained a positive attitude, even during difficult times. She loved to entertain, happily hosting family holidays. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing and play the piano, especially with her children and grandchildren.
Esther will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her children, Diane Pincus (Barry Davidson), Sandy Pincus and Jill Pincus, her grandchildren, Juliann Satz (Michael Broome) and Hannah Pincus, her great-grandson Shai Broome and her step-children Seth Gopin and Evan Michelson.
A service honoring Esther will be held privately.
