Edward Joseph Pochinski, Jr, 74, passed away on Saturday Aug 20th 2016 at St. Peter’s Hospital New Brunswick, NJ after a short illness. He was born at St. Peter’s Hospital, New Brunswick and lived in North Brunswick his entire life until recently when he began spending part of the year in The Villages, FL.
Ed attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and St Peter’s High School in New Brunswick where he met his wife Betty Anne.
Ed was a talented musician. He played several instruments including the organ, piano, trumpet, and accordion. During his youth he played the organ at Sacred Heart Church and went on to become a piano teacher and tuner. He played in several bands and tuned pianos for many well-known musicians. Ed played in many local night clubs under the name Eddie Dane. His band played for many years at the dinner dance fund raiser for Citizen’s For Independent Living where his daughter Jeannine resides.
Ed was the owner and operator of Alan Radio in North Brunswick, which outfitted police cars, NYC fire trucks and ambulances with their lights, radios and sirens.
His favorite hobby was flying radio control airplanes which he built himself. Ed was a member of the North Brunswick, Edison, Mercer and The Villages flying clubs where he was a regular at the flying field. He was a licensed flying instructor and enjoyed sharing his love for flying.
His second favorite hobby was watching his grandchildren’s activities. His attended all of granddaughter Jasmine’s dance recitals, grandsons Jordan’s and Domenick’s basketball games, soccer games and swim meets, and grandson Stephen’s baseball games. He was always on the sidelines cheering them on.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Edward Sr. and Geneveve Pochinski, and brother Vincent. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Anne; his son Edward III, wife Laura, grandchildren Stephen, Rachel, and Casey; his daughter Jennifer, husband Joe, grandchildren Jasmine, Jordan, and Domenick; daughter Jeannine; his brother John and sister-in-law Mary Ann; brother-in-law Thomas Wilson; brother-in-law Wayne Wilson and wife Kristie; and sister-in-law Marianne Mera and husband Narciso.

Visitation will be held at the Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ on Sunday , August 28, from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral mas on Monday, August 29 at 10 am at St. Ladislaus RC Church, 215 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ.
