Dr. Theodore J. Stahl, 93, passed away at his residence Tuesday, December 10, 2024. He was born April 25, 1931, to Hinna and Mates David Stahl in Berlin, Germany. He started to immigrate to the United States in 1936 were they lived in Bayonne, NJ.
Dr. Stahl was a clinician and clinical researcher for quite a few years, though he began as an endocrinologist and then went on to the field of nuclear medicine. However, he always considered himself a clinician, primarily. In time, he became drawn to bioethics and created an annual lectureship in medical bioethics in honor of his parents at RWJ Medical School. Dr. Stahl was a member of various bioethics committees at Saint Peter's University Hospital SPUH and the Medical Society of NJ. His greatest interest was to continue the profession patient and physician relation in the face of the complexities of medical care and the need of patients and society to make decisions concerning the beginning of life and the beginning of death as well as with other issues generated by technology. Throughout his medical career he was a teacher in many aspects. During his career as a physician he practiced over 50 years in NJ.
Dr. Stahl had a great love and loyalty to family and committees he was active with including Highland Park Conservative Temple - CAE, Federation, Israeli Bonds, Rutgers' Hillel and many others. He was very active in main communities he was involved with.
Dr. Stahl is survived by his; son, James Stahl and wife Nathalie; daughter, Lauren Stahl and granddaughter, Julia, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. Missing terribly is his beloved wife, Eva, and his eldest son, Douglas.
Funeral Services will be 12:00PM, Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Highland Park Conservative Temple, 201 South 3rd Avenue, Highland Park, NJ. Burial to follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of the Doctor to the Rutgers's Hillel in New Brunswick NJ, where Ted and Eva met.
