Catalina La Rosa, 99, passed away at Genesis at Willow Creek Nursing and Rehab in Somerset, NJ on Thursday, June 11, 2020. Born and raised in Lima, Peru, she finally settled in Somerset in 1995 with her daughter and son-in-law.
Upon completion of high school, she married and opened Catty's Beauty Parlor in her house. Catalina was one of the first hairdressers to do highlights in Peru. While working and traveling to New York City for classes, Catalina's business grew. She encountered many famous and well known people from all over the world that would come to her Parlor to have their hair done.
Catalina was an amazing person. She was widowed at a young age,raised six children and was a very successful business woman.
Predeceased by her parents Julio and Filomena (Ruiz) Rebata, her husband Domenico La Rosa, her son Edmundo La Rosa, her grandson Javier La Rosa and most recently her grandson Carlos Escardo, she is survived by her children Miguel La Rosa, Javier La Rosa and his wife Vilma, Domingo La Rosa and his wife Elena, Mavi Pretto and her husband Raul, and Ada La Rosa, her seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, her sisters Angelica and Dominga Rebata.
Visitation will be held at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 9 - 10:30 am. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's of Mount Virgin RC Church-Parish of the Visitation, Remsen Avenue, New Brunswick at 11 am, follow by interment at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick, NJ.
