Augustine M Braima

Augustine M. Braima commonly known as Apendo, passed away on July 23, 2023. He was 68 years old. He  died at the Raritan Bay Medical Center at Old Bridge, New Jersey. Before his death, he was battling a couple of chronic illnesses.
     Apendo was born in Rotifunk, Moyamba District on August 7, 1954. He was one of many children of the late Pa Brima Asmica Sillah (Dad) and the late Mama Hawa Vangahun Koroma (Mom). May their blessed souls Rest in peace. He attended The Roman Catholic Primary School in Rotifunk. Apendo was a very brilliant student, mentored by his late elder brother Mr. B.F. Vandi of blessed memory. He continued his secondary education at the Christ The King College Secondary School in Bo, where he  graduated with flying colors. He was admitted to Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree.
     Apendo was a very active in Student Union Politics while in college. He started his adult life teaching at the Technical Secondary School in Freetown and The Sierra Leone Nursing School, Freetown. He was Head of Department at The Technical Secondary School, Freetown, Sierra Leone. He immigrated to the USA in the late 80’s. Apendo last worked at JobCorp in Edison, NJ as a teacher. Before his long illness, he was a member of the CKC Old Boys Association and a former Vice President of The SLPP branch in New Jersey. 
     Apendo was a warm-hearted, peace-loving gentleman with an enormous sense of humor. He was a champion extrovert with a broad disarming smile. He is sociable and loves having fun with friends, family and sometimes alone 😊.
    Apendo is survived by his: wife, Agnes Braima; sons, Alieu and David; daughters, Hawa and Patricia; sister, Jahie, many grand children, cousins, nieces, nephews, and tons of good friends. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12PM, Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at St. Mary's Mount Virgin RC Church, 198 Sandford Street, New Brunswick, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick, NJ.
