Anna (Kuntar) Krajczar, age 86, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, March 20, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on February 12, 1931 in Szentgotthard, Hungary, Anna was employed as a telegraph operator for the railroad in Szentgotthard at the Austria/ Hungarian border before fleeing to the United States with her husband Imre Krajczar and 2 young children (toddler Andrew and infant Pearl) during the Hungarian uprising in 1956. Her husband Imre pre-deceased Anna in 2002 at the age of 76. They were married for 51 years.
After attending night school to develop proficiency with the English language, Anna worked as a seamstress at a sewing company in New Brunswick for 20 years. She later found fulfillment in retail sales, working for Loehmann’s before retiring in 1993. Her loving children, son Andrew Krajczar of North Brunswick, daughter Pearl Traub and husband John Joseph of Clinton survive her. Anna’s most treasured gifts were the births of her caring and devoted grandchildren Jennifer Ann Traub of Elmwood Park and John James Traub of Brooklyn, NY.
In addition to her children, son-in-law and grandchildren, Anna is survived by her beloved sibling, brother Ernest Kuntar and his wife Maria of Arizona, niece Magdaline Kowalczyk and her husband Adam of Arizona, niece Klara Kuntar of Oregon, nieces Anna K. Reynolds, Julie King, and nephew Laszlo Kuntar all residing in Arizona. Many adoring family members in Hungary also survive Anna. Beloved cousin Szuszi Nemeth and her husband Imre, sister-in-law Mariska Krajczar, niece Jutka Krajczar, and nephews Gyuszi Krajczar and Tomas Vinko.
Anna’s gentle nature, generous spirit and humble personality rewarded her with God’s Blessing of many loving friends. Anna was most joyful baking and cooking for her family and many friends. She enjoyed gardening and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. All her much loved family and friends will miss her deeply. Viewing will be at Gowen Funeral Home at 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick between the hours of 2-5 pm on Sunday, March 26, 2017. A funeral mass celebrating the life of Anna will be held at St. Ladislaus Church on Somerset Street in New Brunswick at 11 am on Monday, March 27, 2017. Interment will follow at Van Liew Cemetery on Georges Road in North Brunswick. May God grant Anna peaceful and eternal rest.
