Andrew Vajda,96, passed away Thursday morning, March 20, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hoaspital in New Brunswick. He was born and raised in New Brunswick and spent the last 36 years living in Monroe, NJ.
He was a Navy Veteran having served in World War II.
Andrew, along with his brother-in-law Harry, owned and operated the Superior Deli in Elizabeth, NJ.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife, going to Atlantic City and spending the winter in Las Vegas, Nevada. Andrew loved to play Cribbage, he was very passionate about the game, and was a regular poker player at the retirement village where he lived.
Predeceased by his parents John & Cili (Benedict) Vajda, his siblings and his wife of 60 years Shirley, (2012), he is survived by his children Freddy Vajda, Georgene Lefkowits and Phyllis Vajda, his grandchildren Jeremy, Zachary, Erica, Sandra & Jenna and his seven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Georges Road, New Brunswick on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 1:00pm.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Crabiel Parkwest funeral chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ.
