Adaline G Bloom

November 25, 1919 — March 17, 2024

Piscataway

About four months after celebrating her 104th birthday, Adaline Glasser Bloom passed away. Ada was born in New Brunswick, NJ on November 25, 1919, to George and Rebecca Glasser, and resided nearly all of her life in central New Jersey. She graduated from Douglass College of Rutgers University in 1943 with a Bachelor of Arts in Library Science. Her post-graduation professional experiences included working as an assistant to Clare Booth Luce at Time magazine, as an elementary school teacher, and for many years, as the librarian at Edgar Elementary School in Metuchen.

Ada married the love of her life, Lewis Bloom, in 1943, and the two of them enjoyed 73 years of true marital bliss until the day of Lew's passing in December, 2016. Lew and Ada raised two sons, George and Charles Bloom, both of whom survive Ada. George lives with his wife, Patricia Koeller Bloom, in Charlottesville, VA, where he is a Professor of Biology, Cell Biology and Neuroscience at the University of Virginia, and Pat is a retired elementary school teacher. Charles and his wife, Gari Goldberg Bloom, are both dentists in New Brunswick, and they live in Belle Mead, NJ. Besides her sons and daughters-in law, Ada is survived by George’s and Pat’s daughter, Megan Bloom, her husband, John Pickard, and their children, Oliver and Raya, all of Charlottesville, VA; George’s and Pat’s son, Noah Bloom, his wife, Margaret Murray Bloom, and their children, Zoe, Charles and Natalie, all of Earlysville, VA; Charles’ and Gari’s daughter, Ali and her husband, Austin Marcus, of New York City; and their son, Mack, of Chicago, IL. Ada was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Abraham Glasser, Albert Glasser, Louis Glasser, Elizabeth Glasser Sadwith and Dorothy Glasser Cohen.

If you would like to make a contribution in Ada’s memory, donations will be greatly appreciated by the Highland Park Conservative Temple, Hadassah, or the charity of your choosing.
